Information about uptime(1)

uptime(1) is the day (and night) that you CAN'T miss by any chance, if you have technical or business interests in UNIX and/or General Internet technology. uptime(1) is a concept day/night for all kinds of UNIX flavours and it takes place Saturday the 8th of September 2001 from 13 PM - 05 AM.

uptime(1) consists of two parts: A professional part and a festive part.

In the afternoon you will get an up-to-date overview on UNIX; the background, the current status for UNIX today and all the new initiatives, which are in the closest future. We have invited all the huge UNIX suppliers, so you can combine the program that you find the most interesting. There will be 5 different speaker tracks and a showroom/exhibition area.

  • UNIX and Internet
  • UNIX and clusters
  • UNIX and applications
  • UNIX and development
  • UNIX and beginners
Take a look at the program for the specific details.

In the evening we celebrate that the UNIX clock, the pulse of the internet, reaches 1.000.000.000 seconds. This will take place at 03:46:40 AM on the night between Saturday and Sunday the 8th and 9th of September 2001. It also happens to be very close to Linux's 10th year birthday, so we have a lot to celebrate. We will take care of the entertainment until then.

uptime(1) addresses project managers, decision-makers, developers and others with technical and business interests in open systems and UNIX.

The UNIX family consists of a large number of Operating Systems. Here is a small list of them and their suppliers:
  • AIX (IBM)
